Wangdicholing Palace, also spelled “Wangduechhoeling” is the birthplace of Bhutan’s first King – Ugyen Wangchuck. The King was born in 1862, after the palace was built in 1858 by his father Jigme Namgyel. Situated in the beautiful valley of Bumthang, it is center of Bhutan’s history and craftsmanship.
