Druk Wangyal Monuments – Dochula
On the mountain pass of Dochula, used since the ancient times to travel between Thimphu and Punakha sits the Druk Wangyal Monuments or the monuments of ‘victorious Bhutanese’ Besides symbolizing the valor of the Great Fourth – His Majesty the 4th King of Bhutan Jigme Singye Wangchuck and military that he led to free Bhutan of foreign militants, it is also show of love by the then Queen, now the Queen Mother Her Majesty Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. The monument consists of 108 stupas and a temple dedicated to victory and His Majesty the 4th King. The pass also offer panoramic view of the of some of the highest peaks of Bhutan Himalayas, including the highest peak of Bhutan – the Gangkar Puensum
